RSI

Measures the strength of buying vs. selling pressure on a scale of 0 to 100.

70 or above→Overbought, may fall
30 or below→Oversold, may rise
A 14-period setting is standard, though some use 9 periods for faster signals. 70/30 is the most common threshold, while a stricter 80/20 filters out noise.

Bollinger Bands

Shows how far price has moved from its average within an expected volatility range.

Touches upper band→Overbought, may fall
Touches lower band→Oversold, may rise
A 20-period moving average with 2-standard-deviation bands is the standard setup. Traders adjust the chart intervals—from minute charts for day trading to daily or weekly charts for long-term investing.

Moving Averages

A line that smooths price over time to reveal the overall trend direction.

Price above the line→Uptrend
Price below the line→Downtrend
SMA weighs every period equally. EMA weighs recent prices more, reacting faster to price changes.

Volume Spike

A sudden jump in trading volume, often a sign of a big price move ahead.

Sudden surge in volume→Big move likely
A spike of 2–3x the usual volume is a common trigger, though some set a higher bar.
